Regional Organic Materials Recovery Centre, Dundalk, ON

In May of 2013, Lystek began operations of the Southgate Organic Materials Recovery Centre (OMRC) in the suitably zoned Eco Industrial Park in the Township of Southgate, Ontario. This totally enclosed, state-of-the-art manufacturing facility was carefully constructed over an extended period. It is fully licensed by the Ministry of the Environment (MOE) and features comprehensive air handling and redundant bio-filtration systems for advanced odour control.

The centre is strategically located in the agricultural heartland of Ontario and has the capacity to produce up to 150,000 tonnes of high quality, federally registered, Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) fertilizer sold under the brand name, LysteGro. The product has a range of beneficial end uses from agriculture to golf courses, greenhouses, sod farms and land reclamation and the centre location allows for quick and easy access to a readily available market within 120 kilometres in circumference.

The multi-million dollar development was financed, designed, constructed and commissioned by Lystek and it is operated by our qualified, professional staff. This provides Lystek market-leading capabilities to respond quickly and practically to the rapidly expanding demand for both cost effective and environmentally responsible organics management and high quality fertilizer products. Fully processed fertilizer material produced at the centre can be stored, when necessary, in two lined, covered lagoons with a total, combined capacity of approximately 90,000 m3.

The facility also features a full-scale research and development laboratory area where incoming feedstock and stored or market bound LysteGro fertilizer is continually sampled and analyzed to ensure it is in compliance with regulatory guidelines for health and safety and to ensure final product quality.

Within the first few months of opening, the Southgate OMRC was providing services to a range of municipalities and other generators of suitable, non-hazardous feedstock and producing fertilizer for sale into the local agricultural market. We are very proud of this world-class facility.
